At the suggestion of member Rod I have added some new categories for magazines including aviation, boats, caravans, tractors and trains.
Although my original intention was to keep the website firmly focused on cars and motorcycles (my own interests) I agree that including these extra categories may help to expand the reach of the website and hopefully attract more members.
I’ve been speaking to Jim from Jim’s Mega Magazines in the USA. Jim has a web store and an eBay store where he sells thousands of car magazines. He has a very thorough and well organised database of car magazines from around the world, probably the largest in the world, and he supplies information to several automotive museums and auction houses.
The good news for this website is that Jim is providing us with access to a lot of his information, so over time you will see a lot more magazines added to the catalogue. In fact, so many more that I am going to have to make some changes to the way the catalogue is organised on the website. Its okay now to look through a hundred publications, but when there is several hundred if not thousands of publications it is going to need to be much better organised.
I’m thinking of filtering publications by country and/or first letter, but if you have any suggestions based on how you use the website, I would like to hear from you.
Have a look at Jim’s website - http://www.jimsmegamagazines.com/ - to get an idea of how many magazines Jim has catalogued but keep in mind this is less than 10% of what is in his computerised database.
I am working on improvements to the way you can browse through the magazine catalogue.
See my progress in the test catalogue:

I also plan on merging the categories 'Classic Cars' and 'Modified Cars' into the 'Cars' category to avoid any confusion about the correct category for some car magazines.

The magazine catalogue changes have been completed and are now live.
You can now filter publications by country and sort them by alphabetic, highest rating, and newly added.
Issues can be filtered by year or volume, and sorted by earliest, latest, highest rating, and newly added.
I've also added some messages to non-members to let them know they can contribute to the database.
The website has been updated with a new colour scheme and some minor design changes including new a logo and home page icons!
