RCN had five stages.
1. Published by Photo Digest as a monthly with the July 1961 issue as a newspaper style format and converted to a more normal magazine format with glossy cover with the September 1963 issue.
Until October 1966 (vol 6/#4) it was the official organ of CAMS.
Published by Stephen Knox of the Motorbook motoring book shop at Neutral Bay from April 1984 and ceased publication as a monthly in December 1984 (vol 24/#6).
2. Published as Racing Car in 1985 with three quarterly issues (vol 25/#1,2,3).
3. Published by Fleetwood Publishing as Racing Car News as a monthly from Jul/Aug 1986 (vol 26/#1/2).
4. October 1986 - under new ownership - Max Stahl (RCN Camperdown) with last issue published November 1988.
5. Sold to Chevron Publishing from March 1989 to January 1992 and vol/issue# discontinued.
