COVER: The tail fin got its start with the 1948 Cadillac taking on styling cues from a P-38. Then Chrysler, with its Forward Look cars of 1957, brought the fin to new heights. Cadillac, not to be out done, came out with its 1959 model and had the last word in retched excess... until 1969 and '70 when Dodge and Plymouth came out with their winged warriors for the NASCAR racing circuit. Finned and winged cars features this month include the 1957 Plymouth Fury, 1958 Chevrolet Impala and the 1970 Plymouth Superbird.
