This could be a good buy for someone in/near Canberra.
Five large tubs of unidentified car magazines for $50.
What titles these are is not indicated in the listing, but one of the tubs says "Aussie Muscle" suggesting Australian Muscle Car? Wonder if issue #1 is in there...
Anyone near St Ives (Sydney) want some free magazines including EVO, BMW Car, Performance Car, Car, Classic Car, Octane, Classic & Sports Car, plus some Porsche magazines?
Hi all. I inherited my Grandfather’s Car magazines in 1988 when I was 8 years old. The collection consists off the following: X110 Modern Motor 1955-73
X47 Motorman 1968-73
X 12 Wheels Oz 1955-79
X9 Autonews 1968
Can anyone here point me in the right direction as I’m curious of what sort of monetary value these may have. Thanks in advance all.????
@OldCarMagazines, hard to guess at a value but if you were lucky to find the right buyer it may be worth a couple of hundred dollars at most I would say. There doesn't seem to be much demand for collections and the ones I see advertised usually stay advertised for a long time. Selling individual issues is usually more fruitful but can take a very long time.
Would agree with Johna - I buy individual Mags via the Kiwi Auction site TradeMe and deal with a couple of sellers who sell individually
MotorMan was first produced by Donn Anderson when he was 12 -The First proper Kiwi Car Magazine which was sold extensively throughout NZ ad even made it to Australia produced 1958-1977 No2 (I documented most of these from cover t o cover and here NZ there are in our National Archive) usually on trademe they go for around $5.00-6.50 NZ depending how good they are. The Auto News was produced by Alan Dick and mostly covered Motorsport particularly 1968 edition which were a lot thinner and you may get $4-6 dollars for them on Trade Me - Steve Holmes a Kiwi journalist who specialises in Motorsport as NZ Motorsport historian - it might be worth your while to go on his forum -The Roaring Season and sell them there
The Wheels magazines (May 1953- ) would be worth selling - the 60-70s are well sought after for their Ford Falcon vs Chrysler vs Holden tests - and tend to sell for higher if the performance editions are been tested - Price range $5.00-$10.00 a piece - like anything else magazines would have to be near mint to mint to get top dollar - one of my sellers always sells them in a plastic transparent sleeve which great to protect them
